Rail Consulting - Current Projects

Rail Consulting has provided expertise to engineering staff since October 2003 to complete the project within base line programme and design parameters.

The project is 345km long, of 60 kg/m CWR Dual Standard Gauge Slab Track. 

The stations comprise of the German design RHEDA track layout.

Turnouts comprise of 1:32,1:26,1:24,1:18.5,1:9.

Key Accountabilities

• To construct the railway designed for 300kph passenger railway.
  
  
• Training of local engineering staff to assist with inspection and monitoring procedures concerning the railway construction.
  

• Safety compliance management.
  
  
• Reviewing the contractors method statements and inspection test plans for compliance to design specifications and good practise.
  
  
• Distribution and installation of rail including alignment and vertical adjustment.
  
  
• Pre-production of test welds which includes bending, macro etching, and hardness tests at a certified laboratory.
  
  
• Thermite welding and destressing 1600m modules.
  
  
• Rail grinding-Speno 16/32 stone machines. Harsco Track Technoligies RGC-20.
  
  
• Ultrasonic testing using hand and mobile inspection procedures.

• Magnetic particle testing/geometry compliance of welds.
  
  
• High-speed turnouts including destressing and free welding of turnouts.
  
  
• Design geometry compliance utilizing track master recorder,EM30, EM120 track recorders.
  
  
• Final practical completion and final inspections.
  
  
• Monitor 12 months maintenance defects correction period and maintenance inspections.
